In the Car Adjust the seat so you are as close to the steering wheel as comfortably possible. Your knees should be slightly higher than your hips. Place four fingers behind the back of your thigh closest to your knee. If you cannot easily slide your fingers in and out of that space, you need to re-adjust your seat. Consider a back support. Using a support behind your back may reduce the risk of low-back strain, pain or injury. The widest part of the support should be between the bottom of your rib cage and your waistline. Exercise your legs while driving to reduce the risk of any swelling, fatigue or discomfort. Open your toes as wide as you can, and count to 10. Count to five while you tighten your calf muscles, then your thigh muscles, then your gluteal muscles. Roll your shoulders forward and back, making sure to keep your hands on the steering wheel and your eyes on the road. To minimize arm and hand tension while driving, hold the steering wheel at approximately 3 o'clock and 7 o'clock, periodically switching to 10 o'clock and 5 o'clock. Do not grip the steering wheel. Instead, tighten and loosen your grip to improve hand circulation and decrease muscle fatigue in the arms,wrists and hands. While always being careful to keep your eyes on the road, vary your focal point while driving to reduce the risk of eye fatigue and tension headaches. Take rest breaks. Never underestimate the potential consequences of fatigue to yourself, your passengers and other drivers. In an Airplane Standup straight and feel the normal "S" curve of your spine. Then use rolled-up pillows or blankets to maintain that curve when you sit in your seat. Tuck a pillow behind your back and just above the beltlineand lay another pillow across the gap between your neck and the headrest. If the seat is hollowed from wear, use folded blankets to raise your buttocks a little. Check all bags heavier than 5-10 percent of your body weight. Overhead lifting of any significant amount of weight should be avoided to reducethe risk of pain in the lower back or neck. While lifting your bags, stand right in front of the overhead compartment so the spine is not rotated. Do not lift your bags over your head, or turn or twist your head and neck in the process. When stowing belongings under the seat, do not force the object with an awkward motion using your legs, feet or arms. This may cause muscle strain or spasms in the upper thighs and lower back muscles. Instead, sit in your seat first, and using your hands and feet, gently guide your bags under the seat directly in front of you. While seated, vary your position occasionally to improve circulation and avoid leg cramps. Massage legs and calves. Bring your legs in, and move your knees up and down. Prop your legs up on a book or a bag under yourseat. Do not sit directly under the air controls. The draft can increase tension in your neck and shoulder muscles. Safe Travel For Children Always use a car seat in a car when traveling with children below the age of 4 and weighing less than 40 pounds. Ask the airline for their policy on child car seat safety. Car seats for infants and toddlers provide added resistance to turbulent skies, and are safer than the lap of a parent in the event of an unfortunate accident. Make sure the car seat is appropriate for the age and size of the child. A newborn infant requires a different seat than a 3-year-old toddler. Car seats for infants should always face the rear. In this position, the forces and impact of a crash will be spread more evenly along the back and shoulders, providing more protection for the neck. Car seats should always be placed in the back seat of the car-ideally in the center. This is especially important in cars equipped with airbags. If an air bag becomes deployed, the force could seriously injure or kill a child or infant placed in the front seat. I started the HCG diet today. I'm following the homeopathic HCG protocol for 25 days. I'm working with HCG Diet Direct's program and products. The first day wasn't too bad. I actually really quite enjoyed it. But just to be clear...I haven't had to start the low calorie dieting part of it yet. Loading is the only requirement on the first 2 days of the diet.

According to the homeopathic HCG protocol the loading days have a purpose other than as a great send off for the low cal days to follow. They give the body time to absorb the HCG. Even during the loading days you are required to take your HCG three time per day. I took mine morning, lunch and evening. You can't eat or drink before or after you take it for 15 minutes and you have to hold it under your tongue for 15 seconds before you swallow it and go on about your day. I didn't have a hard time remembering it, but it was only the first day.

The formula needs to be store in a cool place, but since it's winter I can't imagine that being a problem. It's pretty cool everywhere it might end up. If I have to take it to work...I can just leave it in the car. It's going to be cool. In the summer it might be a little more problematic so I guess there are definite bonuses to undergoing the homeopathic HCG diet in the winter.

My routine on the first day was really quite simple. I got out of bed. I weighed myself and noted down I was at 170. I took my HCG and my B-Total (and additional vitamin supplement I bought from HCG Diet Direct). Then I went ahead and made sure that ate frequently throughout the day. I also made sure to enjoy a few of my all time favorites that are going to be definite "no-no's" while on the diet.

I got my HCG kit. It came by mail yesterday. I immediately unpacked it and gave you a quick rundown in yesterday's article of each of the products. They also mentioned buffalo as a very healthy alternative you can use to mix up your protein regime. And I have to admit that it does sound interesting. I'll have to check out the cookbook and see if I can find a recipe for buffalo. I might just get tired of chicken and lean cuts of steak.

And THEN they started to get right down to it outlining the HCG protocol for weight loss. First I have to say that they did say absolutely no diet soda or Crystal Light. I'm disappointed, but I understand. It's definitely not good for me, I've always known that. But they don't allow it on the diet because of the type of sweetener it uses. You're also not allowed gums or mints. We already discussed how lotions and moisturizers are outlawed. You also can't include butter or oil or any sort of dressing that has any oil or fat in it with any of your foods. The rules for taking the drops are simple. You have to take them three times per day. Each time you take the designated amount and hold it under your tongue for 15 seconds before swallowing. You don't eat or drink for 15 minutes before you take it. And you don't eat or drink for 15 minutes after you take it.

I'll share more hints and extras from the booklet in the next article, but for today I'm going to wrap it up. I'm tired. But I'm happy. I think I made a good choice. My buddy, Lisa, and I have decided to embark on the HCG diet. We've been doing a lot of online research so even though we haven't yet started the diet we've already identified a few problem areas. But since some of the online info contradicts we've decided to wait until our actual HCG Diet Direct protocol arrives per mail before we really start to stress it. Apparently it comes with a short and sweet instruction manual.

But I figured there's no reason why I can't share my worries with you. I'm really antsy about the possibility that diet soda and crystal light aren't allowed on the diet; at all! And I've also heard tell that there's only one berry allowed, no ground meat, and no substitutions. Hearing these "rumors" have left me a little bit tentative. This could be tougher than I thought.

So...no diet soda OR Crystal Light. That's a rumor I heard going around online anyway. And I have to say I'm appalled. What will I do? I've decided to take a deep breath and hope for the best since I did run across some blogs that mentioned a diet soda for emergencies or a diet soda or two per day to help you avoid sugar. But I won't be able to be sure if it's allowed or not until that dang rule book arrives by mail. And I'm going to try my best to follow the correct HCG diet protocol because that's how you lose the most weight.

And the limitation to strictly strawberries just can't be true, right? All berries are so good for you from what I've always heard. Although I do kind of remember there being something said about all the sugar that is packed into certain types of fruit. So this one could actually be true. I'll be sad, but I'll deal with it. I'll miss the possibilities that are presented by blackberries. They're my favorite.

And that brings me to the lack of ground meat on the approved HCG diet protocol. It seems fairly logical, but I just wanted to complain really quickly because it's going to make it hard to make good HCG diet protocol approved choices at the next family barbeque. But that's alright. I'll figure something out!

The substitution thing just might kill me; I mean the rumor that there ARE no substitutions. I thought I'd be able to save a serving of fruit to eat late at night when I'm still up and I'm starving. But if not...maybe I'll just have to learn to go to bed at a decent hour. It will be rough, but I think I can do it.
