There Is Hope To Stop Your Panic Attacks Fast

By Adam Champagne

In my opinion, panic attacks or one of the worst disorders to have. I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. You constantly feel trapped, afraid, and worry about when the next panic attack will hit you. I have suffered from panic attacks for many years, but I found a way to stop them.

When I had my first attack, I thought I was having a heart attack. I had never experienced anything like this before. Once I realized I wasn't having a heart attack I began to calm down. However, it wasn't long before I started getting them all the time. Just the thought of having an attack would trigger a new one. The thing that initially helped me the most was when I found out that other people had panic attacks to and that there was actually a name for it. This made me feel like less of freak, because I thought I was the only person experiencing this.

Finding that other people suffered from the same condition as me gave me some relief, but it wasn't enough. I started reading everything I could get my hands on about panic and anxiety. All the books I read has very common strategies and ideas on getting rid of panic attacks and anxiety.

The first thing is that you need to assess your situation. Ask yourself "what am I afraid of?" I was constantly afraid of having another panic attack. Then ask yourself "why am I afraid of it?" I was afraid because I thought that I would have a heart attack as a result of the panic attack.

Next, you need to ask yourself "what is the worst that could happen?" I thought I could die, that is all I thought about which ended up bringing on more panic attacks and put me in a constant state of anxiety.

Now that you've identified what the worst thing that could happen is you must prepare for the worst. I started doing research about panic attacks and anxiety disorders and I quickly found that people do not die from panic attacks. It just doesn't happen. This fact alone decreased my anxiety greatly.

It doesn't matter what triggers your panic attacks, 99% of the time that thing you are afraid of will not happen. Even if it does it usually isn't that bad, your just making it out to be in your head. It's a vicious cycle and the good news is that you can break this cycle!

There are a great many resources online to help you with panic attacks. The best thing I did was join a program that guided me through the process of getting rid of my panic attacks for good. It took me by the hand and guided me the whole way. I am glad to say that I am now panic free! - 17273

Anti Aging for Middle Age and Senior Years

By Deborah Levi

Most of us realize we should take care of ourselves by eating right and exercising. At 20, our bodies may let us off the hook a bit if we do not eat right or skip some sessions at the gym. But at fifty, or seventy, it is much more important to make health a hobby.

Scientific studies show us that our bodies, fitness, skin, hair, mental state, etc. are all joined together. A healthy diet and fitness routine that improves our heart health may well make our skin look better too! Our moods can also be improved, and we may find that our brains stay sharper later. Of course, that road runs both ways. Negative lifestyle choices can hurt us in multiple ways.

Omega-3, for instance, is one of the so-called good oils. It has been demonstrated to help lower cholesterol, even with people who consumer quite a bit in their diets. This oil, one of the good fats, can also improve skin and hair. One natural substance can have an important positive impact on more than one system in our body.

As we get older, we do tend to slow down. Not only do we tend to become less active, but our metablolism slows down. The same amount of food at 50 will probably make us fatter than it would have at 20. But we can reverse this with moderate exercise. And not only will a nice walk or bike ride help us look leaner, it can lower disease risks and perk us up!

Experts advise us to fit in at least two hours of exercise every week. This is not really that much, and it can be done with 20 minutes of exercise done 6 times a week. We do not have to train like marathon runners either. A brisk walk or turn on an indoor bike can benefit us. It is just important to stick to it.

Watch the bad fats and bad carbs too. A huge steak dinner with fries should not be on the menu every nigh. Try to replace red meat with fish a few times a week. If you must go out for a steak, try to order a smaller portion, and then make sure you eat it with a nice salad and some fruit. Science has demonstrated that some good food can help our bodies deal with some of the less healthy food once in awhile. - 17273

Information About The Grapefruit Diet

By Lee Reid

Obesity is an huge problem all over the world. This has led to most obese people suffering psychologically and has also resulted in diseases like diabetes, heart disease, etc. The reason behind this sharp increase in obesity over the last few years is largely related to our daily diets.

In today s world, an average person s diet contains more sugars, carbohydrates and fats than it did some years back. All the canned and packed types of food can be blamed for this; due to the high content of additives and preservatives in them. In earlier times food was more healthy as it was made fresh using natural ingredients; times when most had more time to relax and did not spend most of their hours typing away behind a computer screen.

Many are now aware of this problem and are striving to change their eating habits. These eating habits would include choosing a more balanced diet, knowing what ingredients go into certain food products and finally eating food that is organic. No artificial techniques are used in growing organic foods.

Dieting in general could mean anything. From counting the calories that one consumes to eating well balanced meals and regular exercise. However all diet plans have one main goal; to keep the body healthy, physically and mentally. Many diet plans include eating low amounts of carbohydrates, sugars and fats plus eating higher amounts of vegetables and fruits which have healthy quantities of vitamins and contain mostly dietary fiber.

A popular diet, which dates back to the 1930s, is the grapefruit diet. The grapefruit diet as its name indicates, involves the intake of grapefruit with each meal. It is consumed in either the form of grapefruit juice or half the grapefruit itself. The diet . The reason for this reduction of intake of other fruits and vegetables and increase in intake of fatty foods, in the grapefruit diet, is because of the belief that grapefruit contains a fat burning enzyme.

Generally, the results of those having tried the grapefruit diet, have been favorable. Researchers, however, say that the grapefruit diet is unhealthy and dangerous as it encourages the consumption of high fat foods which may have disastrous effects, although those who have tried it refuse to agree. - 17273

Overtraining Can Hurt Your Bodybuilding Process

By Ricardo d Argence

Good for you, you obviously are trying to get yourself in shape. If you're not spending hours in the gym doing intense weight lifting, then it's probably true that you're not going to get the results you want and you'll need to step up. However, there is one caution you're going to have to take note of, you've got to avoid overtraining.

If you work too hard without giving your body time to rest and recuperate between weightlifting sessions, you will get what is called overtraining.

Once you understand that when building muscle, muscle is breaking down, you will understand overtraining. You're not building the muscle in the gym, really. When you are inside the gym you are actually breaking down muscle and producing small injuries to that particular muscle that your body must then heal and repair. When these injuries heal and repair, they heal and repair stronger than they were previously. The process that actually builds muscle is that your body, while you rest, will repair the muscle tissue that is broken down during the workout.

When you overtraining, you're not giving your body the rest it needs in between workouts to properly build and repair. What this means is that you're actually preventing muscle from building. Worse than that, though, you're actually hurting yourself in a number of other ways, too. Look for these symptoms to see whether or not you're overtraining. If you are, you can take steps to improve this and get back on the muscle building track.

If this applies to you, improve yourself by getting on the track of building your physique. That is number one thing that you will possibly notice. Along with these symptoms, if you continue to overtrain your body, you will probably start to experience other symptoms.

Letting yourself recover after a workout is necessary so that your testosterone levels do not drop.

It's hard to believe but it might even make you gain weight. You might gain weight you don't want to, in the form of fat. That's because if you keep training, not only will you be breaking down muscle without building it back up, and muscle burns fat, but you also increase your levels of cortisol. Cortisol is a stress hormone that makes your body want to retain fat, especially in stomach.

By overdoing it you are actually doing yourself harm as you weaken your immune system. This is because it is trying to deal with the fact that your body has constant inflammation from muscles that are damaged and sore. So if you find yourself getting colds and flu more easily, slow down. A good workout will help fight off colds and flue, not get them more.

Finally, it bears repeating that when you overtrain, you lose muscle, you don't gain it. Since this is the absolute opposite of what you actually want to accomplish, a good bodybuilding regimen is in order to help you both avoid the symptoms and get the muscle you want.

When you're bodybuilding, your pattern should be one day of intense weightlifting followed by one day of rest. Do heavy duty lifting three to four days a week and give yourself a day off in between intense workouts. It's a good idea to do some light cardio on your rest days, but the big point here is that you should be resting your muscles from heavy duty lifting. They need time to recover and to repair. This is what's going to help you bulk up in a good way, with muscle.

Even while resting your body can't recover and build new tissue unless it has certain elements it needs. That means that nutrition is just as important as rest is. Instead of indulging in potato chips and other types of junk food, you should be reaching for more healthy alternatives such as lean proteins, fruits and vegetables and whole grains. You should choose good nutritious calories that will make you feel full, and will aid your body in repairing itself between workouts. Do this, and soon you will not only see results but will feel better, too. - 17273

The Real Meaning of Lab Tests

By Dr. Jason Fowler

You're at the doctor's office because you think something might be wrong. Rationally, you know tests are probably necessary, but getting the tests done sometimes provokes a lot of anxiety in all of us. We want to know the results, but are very concerned about the outcome."You need blood work" your doctor remarks casually. Your insides do an immediate flip-flop and you feel as if you've just begun hurtling down a very steep roller-coaster.

And when the results come back, it is tough to understand the medical jargon, particularly if the tests are "positive". We've all had the experience of "going south" and not listening to another word that's said after the initial "your test results are positive". Our minds are racing ahead, imagining all the awful possibilities.

Rarely, a considerate physician will be able to put the lab results in a less-worrisome perspective for the patient. For patients, it is important to know some key facts - facts that will empower you any time you need lab tests done.

First, statistically one out of every 20 tests performed will be reported as "abnormal" - even though the result is "normal" for the person being tested. If you are perfectly healthy and have 20 tests done on your blood sample, one of those 20 test results will be "out of the normal range" based on statistics alone.1

This is because a normal test range is calculated by eliminating the top 2.5% and the bottom 2.5% of results for a large group of normal people. This leaves the "normal range" as 95%. So if 20 tests are done, statistically one will be "abnormal", because its results fall in the top or bottom 2.5%. The result is normal for you, but reported as "abnormal".

Other factors to consider are the sensitivity and specificity of the lab test.2 Sensitivity relates to the test's precision in detecting the disease when the disease is present. If a test for colon cancer was 90% sensitive, it would miss ten cases of the disease out of every 100 cases. Specificity relates to whether a positive test actually indicates the presence of the disease you're being tested for. If a test is 90% specific, in ten cases out of 100 positive results, the patient does not really have the disease.

So if a test has low sensitivity, actual cases of the disease may be missed. If a test has low specificity, the test results reporting the presence of the disease may be wrong. All these factors need to be considered in accurately interpreting test results. Things are not always as they seem.3

Bottom line - test results always need to be evaluated in the specific context of the patient. An isolated lab result - or set of results - needs to be related to the patient's condition and circumstances. An accurate diagnosis is not based on lab results alone. That could be a big mistake. Similarly, x-ray, ultrasound, or MRI results need to be interpreted in context also. Trying to interpret an x-ray without any clinical information is likely to lead to a wrong conclusion. Context is everything. If you have questions, we will be able to explain why certain tests are necessary.

Lose Weight The Unconventional Way

By Helen Adams

If you are determined to lose weight, then you have the power to be successful. You will need to change your lifestyle for the long haul if you want to drop pounds and keep them off. You might or might not decide to use the help of dietary supplements to curb your appetite and boost your energy. Do not take any of these pills before talking to your physician.

When you are attempting to lose weight you need to try to eat a little less (so long as you never eat fewer than 1200 calories in one day). Cutting back on what you eat is not as hard as you might think. Simply eat smaller servings and skip second and third helpings. Try not to snack throughout the day if you are not truly hungry.

Say no to drinks that add calories and sugar to your diet. You can drink water as your primary source of hydration. Of course, you might also decide to drink diet drinks form time to time. Think twice before grabbing for a soda or for a beer which will add calories that you do not need.

Make sure you are drinking at least eight servings of water each day. Water is essential for every function in your body. Without enough water your metabolism can be sluggish and you can be too. Drink water to boost your metabolism and to boost your energy levels so that you can burn off more calories.

Start to live an active life. You will not want to spend much time sitting around. Consider joining an aerobics class, going to the gym or taking a walk each day. If you are not that thrilled about regular exercise, find other fun ways to be active. Maybe you like to hike or want to ride bicycles with your kids. You will find ways to be active if you are looking.

Eat a diet that does not have a lot of fat or processed foods. Search for healthy protein sources. Dine on whole foods rather than those that are overly starchy. Stock up on fruits and vegetables. If you eat well and work to stay active whenever possible, you will be able to lose weight. - 17273

Conquering Weight Loss Challenges with HCG

By Colin Brooks

Anyone that has attempted to lose weight knows that if the connection between mind and body are not right, this challenge will often end in failure. Because of the usual ups and downs that are connected to a diet, help is often needed and sought in the form of natural weight-loss remedies. In order to get the help that they need, many people are turning to HCG.

What is HCG? Basically it is hormone that is produced within the body, especially among pregnant women. Clinical studies have shown that HCG is capable of assisting the body in the process of metabolizing fats. There are a number of HCG products and plans on the market today, and many involve injecting the hormone, which is not an option for everyone, especially those who fear needles.

To fall victim to weight loss challenges is not uncommon. Many people are simply not capable of adhering to the strict guidelines of the diet. This is why these drops are so important. There is no exercise plan that is needed and the user is in no danger. Just follow the plan as it is outlined and they will meet with success.

Obesity can lead to many problems. The health risks that are associated with obesity seem to increase every day. As people get older, they start to suffer from many of the conditions that are directly related to obesity issues. There are also emotional and mental issues that are connected with the same problems.

The HCG program works hand in hand with the most traditional diet model, the low calorie diet. In fact, in this program the short term approach is a very low calorie diet, actually only 500 calories a day for a brief period. This can be a real challenge for some dieters, especially those who struggle with specific food cravings like sweets.

Fortunately the HCG program provides diet support products to meet these challenges. These products have been tested in clinical settings and are designed to work with the HCG limited calorie diet. Testing shows that the support items actually increase the effectiveness of the diet program.

It is hard to find any diet plan that is as popular or successful as HCG diet drops. The research that stands behind this diet is decades strong with thousands of people to prove it works. The dieter will no longer have to spend hours in the gym or eat horrific food in order to experience success. All they have to do is follow the diet and take a few drops of HCG under their tongue each day and the pounds will start to melt off. - 17273

After completing the set simply stand on the balls of your feet and hold that position for a count of 90 and then jump right back into another set of standing calf raises and do as many reps as you can, when you hit positive failure stand of your toes for another 90 seconds, keep on doing this until you can no longer perform one good repetition with the standing calf raises

You need only one set of this get "large calves" exercise, if done correctly your calves will be aching the next day and if you take measures to ensure recovery your calf muscles will grow and very soon you will have large calves

Why Gynecomastia Is Prevalent In Preteens Younger Then 18

By Dustin Fennell

Why gynecomastia is common in boys younger than 17: The condition of males having abnormally large breasts is referred to as "gynecomastia." This condition is common in young boys, usually nine through seventeen. It is usually due to hormonal changes and imbalance. In 90% of the cases, the condition disappears on its own. So it is recommended to wait a few years before resorting to surgery.

The cause of gynecomastia is uncertain. It is different for each individual case. For some boys, it can be caused by distress or hormonal conditions. Signs of the conditions vary. Often times, the nipples are abnormally large. Approximately thirty to sixty percent of adolescent boys suffer from the condition. Some may suffer from it for the rest of their lives.

Boys that are overweight naturally have fat all over their body, including the chest area. So having large man boobs looks natural. But in skinnier boys, it looks unnatural. If they are generally skinny but carrying protruding man boobs, the other kids will take notice. He will feel very embarrassed.

Boys of that age are already confused enough. He should not have to worry about having "man boobs" and suffer even more. Other kids can be so cruel. They will make fun of him and shun him. This can do horrific things to a young child. His self image and self esteem will be ruined.

Gym class is the worst. When changing clothes in public with other boys, having large breasts can be humiliating. Boys with the condition have admitted to being offered bras, having their breasts squeezed in ridiculed, and constantly mocked. Some even considered suicide because the emotional pain was so unbearable. They can not even wear regular clothes. Going out in public takes a long time because they need to find the right attire to hide their man boobs.

Sometimes, losing weight can reduce the amount of adipose tissue in the breast. But if it is not enough, surgery may be needed. But most doctors will tell you to wait it out. In majority of the cases with young boys, the condition often disappears on its own. Wait until the body is done growing. If it still remains, then talk to your doctor about the surgical options.

As a young boy grows, his body is going through many different changes, including hormonal. It may be part of the puberty cycle in some boys. That is why waiting it out is recommended. Hormonal imbalance can cause the condition. And many times when he reaches adulthood and is done growing, the problem disappears without any medical treatment.

If your boy is going through emotional pain, have him see a counselor. Talking about it always helps. They may be able to provide the emotional support he needs. - 17273

Personal Trainers Find Satisfaction At Work

By Kelley Jaston

The field of personal training is expanding at about the same rate as American waistlines. Obesity is a serious and growing problem among average Americans. As medical research links more health risks, like heart disease, hypertension and stroke to even moderate obesity, more Americans are trying to improve their health by getting fit. Some companies have even opened employee fitness centers in an effort to improve their employees' health and reduce the cost of health insurance.

This has created a huge demand for certified personal fitness trainers. Personal fitness trainers work with their clients on nutrition and exercise programs that are tailored to the individual. The goal is to improve the client's overall health by increasing their level of fitness.

Personal trainers need to be competent in several areas in order to properly serve their clients. The first area is nutrition. One reason for the epidemic of obesity is the poor diet than many Americans chose to eat. High fat foods and refined sugars add unnecessary calories without providing nutrition. The personal trainer works with his clients to encourage a healthy diet with less fat and sugar and better nutrition, not just for weight loss, but for overall health.

The second area is general medical knowledge. You will need to be aware of any chronic health complaints your client suffers from and the impact of the condition on their ability to participate in physical activities. Some clients don't decide to address their fitness issues until after they discover a problem. You need to know the individuals limitations and you may need to speak with their doctor regarding special dietary needs and physical activity before you can design their fitness plan.

Nutrition is an important part of overall fitness and the personal trainer has to know about basic nutrition. Part of a fitness trainer's job is to work with his clients to improve their diet. Motivating clients to eat healthy foods and cut high fat foods and refined sugars from their diets is important. Since there is more to fitness than exercise, the trainer has to cover other issues.

Setting up proper exercise programs is central to the job of personal fitness training. The trainer must consider the individual clients fitness level, general health and age and set up a program that meets all the client's needs. The trainer must be well versed in both aerobic and strength training exercise and equipment, since a balanced approach to exercise contains elements of both.

If you are considering a career as a personal trainer, you should look into the available training programs. Understand that you will require some business training if you intend to be an independent trainer and not work for someone else. finding clients, advertising, bookkeeping and other skills may be necessary.

If this sounds like the job you're looking for , you should look in the training programs available and decide the best method to obtain your certification. For those planning on operating as a private business, you should also look into basic business courses to give you the skills you will need to insure your success. - 17273

What Is A Healthy Diet? The Simple Truth Finally Revealed

By Jose Andres

You know you need to eat a well balanced, healthy diet if you want to lose weight, combat disease, and improve your overall health. What you may not know is exactly what eating healthy means. Thanks to so much conflicting information and the booming diet industry, you are not alone. Millions of people are uncertain what "healthy" even is anymore.

Fortunately, eating for health and longevity doesn't have to be that complicated. You don't have to throw hundreds of dollars a week on specially grown organic foods and you definitely do not have to pay top dollar for frozen, prepackaged diet foods to be delivered to your door.

Healthy eating simply means you focus mainly on foods that give your body the nutrients, vitamins, and trace minerals that it needs to function properly. You don't have to deprive yourself of everything that tastes good, but balance the occasional splurge with nutritionally dense foods.

It's time to unleash the truth and toss out the fad diets. What does a well balanced diet actually mean today?

Why not start with carbohydrates, since they have been made into the devil these days? Your body absolutely needs carbs, but not the type that most of us consume on a daily basis. The trick to being healthy is to select mostly whole grain carbs that will deliver tons of energy and not as much fat deposits.

It turns out that the best carbs that will actually serve a real purpose in your body are very low calorie and low fat if not fat free. We are talking about vegetables, fruits, and tons of whole grains. Go for whole grain and whole wheat (100%, every time) pasta, bread, rice, and cereal over the refined sugary options.

Then mix in lean protein (such as chicken, white meat turkey) and healthy fats (extra virgin olive oil, etc.) and you are on your way to a healthier body, clearer mind, and more youthful, vibrant life. Yes, a healthy diet can be that simple! - 17273
