About Water Filtration Systems for Convenience and Savings

By Joseph Nagy

Today's trend of health conscious people moving toward natural health is huge. Pure drinking water has been recognized as being most vital to our health. Shockingly, there are over 2,100 different toxins that could be contaminating your tap water.

The solution, for many consumers, is to purchase bottled water; however, some reports claim that bottled water really isn't all that much better for your health. The millions of plastic bottles manufactured, transported and dumped in our landfills are harmful to our environment and slowly killing our planet!

If everyone owned a home water filtration system, then everyone would enjoy pure water without the expense of purchasing bottled water, to protect their health and the health of our planet. There are many types available; some better than others; some more expensive than others.

A lot of people have a reverse osmosis water filtration system installed under their kitchen sinks for pure drinking water. This system does a great job of removing contaminants; but, unfortunately, it also removes beneficial minerals, like calcium and magnesium, just to name a couple.

There are water filtration systems that do not remove all toxins from your drinking water; just some. They might cost less, but are they worth it if you are still getting contaminants in your water? Check the features each system offers when comparing the price of each system.

Shower water filters are another item to consider. As you shower or bathe, the warm water opens the pores of your skin; you breathe the steam into your lungs. Many contaminants in water can cause dry, itchy skin and upper respiratory problems. A shower filter will make a great difference.

A whole house filter is the ultimate of water filters, for healthy drinking water and healthy bathing and showering water. Though the cost is higher, there is less maintenance as there is only one unit to maintain.

While people are very health conscious today, they are also budget conscious. Figure out how much you are spending, per unit, to purchase bottled water. Amazingly, you will find that it is pretty close to the price of gasoline! How many of these units do you drink per day, per week, per year? Keep this number in mind when you shop for your system.

Now, when you are looking at water filtration systems, notice the price of the filters and how long the filters last. The filters should be rated for a certain number of gallons of water before they need to be changed. A good system will provide easy instructions for maintenance, so you can do it yourself. You will most likely find that the maintenance of a water filtration system is much cheaper than buying bottled water.

Price is not the only thing to consider. Be sure to get a system with multi-filtration to remove all the contaminants. The system you purchase should be one that has been around for a long time and is popular, so that filter replacements will be easier to obtain. Find out if you can purchase filters at local home-improvement stores or if they must be ordered. Check the warranty of the product to be sure it will hold up long enough to be worth the cost.

With adequate research into water filtration systems, you should have a pretty good idea of what you want to have installed in your home. When you consider the purchase, installation and maintenance costs, compared to the cost of purchasing bottled water, also think about the convenience. You will no longer be going out to get bottled water each week; no more plastic bottles cluttering up the house and the landfills. With a whole house water filtration system, you get the added bonus of improving the quality of all your water, for better results with laundry as well as safe cooking and showering water.

With the many products available, you should take your time and do your research. Choose a water filtration system that will suit your needs and fit your budget. - 17273
