Gain Muscle Workout - What Arnold Schwarzenegger Did

By Phil Edgar

Since his bodybuilding career, Arnold Schwarzenegger has become the poster child of it all. In the sixties, Arnold took bodybuilding from a little known sport and sparked the surge to the multi million dollar a year industry it is today.

Since his bodybuilding days, and even before when he played soccer as a child, Arnold has always had a winning, strong mentality. Better known for his careers in acting and politics, it is clear to see that he has came and conquered whatever he's ever set out to - and it all started with bodybuilding.

He trained every single day - sometimes twice a day to mix things up and trick his body into growing further. Although, nowadays, we now have easier and more effective ways of making muscles grow.

There are many gain muscle work outs that you can from the internet, but for now, let's just look at the basics, and the things Arnold Schwarzenegger himself was doing to prepare for his first Mr. Universe title at the tender age of 22.

First of all - to gain muscle, there are three key rules that you must follow -

* Training - You must train with free weights that are heavy for YOU.

* Eating - You must eat healthy foods and eat a lot of them every day

* Rest - Muscles don't grow in the gym, they grow when you rest. Get at least 8 hours sleep every night.

Now, focusing on work outs, first of all you should train three times per week for an hour each session. Always have one or two day's rest between each workout. Train each muscle group only once per week and try to stay away from cardio exercise.

Workout 1

Abdominals, Calf Raises, Squats, Deadlifts.

Workout 2

Lat Pull-Downs, Bicep Curls, Bent-Over Rows, Lateral Raises

Workout 3

Tricep Curls, Shoulder Press, Bench Press, Abdominals (optional)

For each exercise, complete as follows

* 2 warm-up sets of 8 reps (don't work to failure) * Increase weight and perform 1 set of 8 reps (work to failure) * Increase weight and perform 1 set of 6 reps (work to failure) * Increase weight and perform 1 set of 4 reps (work to failure) * Increase weight and perform 1 set of 2-4 reps (work to failure) * Drop the weight back down to the weight of your first set and work to failure * Half that weight and work to failure

Follow this gain muscle work out program, combined with a good diet and plenty of rest, and you'll be built like Arnold Schwarzenegger within months! - 17273

Weight Loss Programs

By Alexis Kenne

If you are like most people, you have likely tried dieting two or more times in your life. Unfortunately, most people have tried and failed way too often. Often we find a new diet book that sounds just like what we need. But, most likely our new book and our new diet will soon be forgotten. That is why some people turn to fads or other extreme strategies. Others seek out pharmaceutical solutions that may have other side effects. However, today there are natural nutritional supplements that come in the form of pills, capsules or juice. Many of these are a safe and healthy way to lose weight.

A persons metabolism can be slowed down due to many different things, namely your genetics, overeating and also age. As this happens it become more and more difficult to burn the calories that you eat through out the day. Losing is weight is good, but not too quickly. There are health and appearance risks for doing so.

Fighting with being overweight is a problem many of us face whether it is just a few pounds packed over the holidays or a few tens of pounds from the pregnancy period. Diets dont always work and sometimes frustration sets in and you have no idea from where to approach this problem.

It is important to realize that to lose weight, you need to take in fewer calories than you burn, with weight loss pills or without. If you do not lower your calorie intake, a pill is not going to miraculously take the weight off. Weight loss pills can be used as an additional aid, but they should not be taken with other medications without consulting your physician.

All diet plans are made with the idea of taking in a smaller amount of calories every day. You dont need to always eat less to accomplish this. You will need to eat smarter and pick those foods that are better for you. You can actually lose weight without eating much less than you already do.

As part of a weight loss plan, many people may try to figure out diet nutrition by thinking they eat too many sweets, or drink too much alcohol, or not enough fruit and vegetables, but they really have no idea how many calories they take in or know anything about diet nutrition. These people may sometimes look at weight loss supplements, as something they can add to their diet, that will take off weight, or curb their cravings.

Staying fit and making certain that you are not carrying too much fat is a crucial thing to many people. Unfortunately, it is also something that is very tough to achieve in the busy lives that most people follow. Thats not to say we cant do it.

The rise in saturated fats we eat, use of refined sugars in many foods and not eating as many foods with fiber have all contributed to the rise in the amount of obese people in society.

Regardless of the method employed for weight loss, once you reach your goal, keeping the weight off permanently should be your focus. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle will not only improve your physical appearance, but can add a few years of longevity. - 17273

Fibromyalgia Symptoms - Covered Up As Flu

By Pat Colapinto

Fibromyalgia afflicts approximately 5% of the population. The majority of these are women. Fibromyalgia is a syndrome. The most common Fibromyalgia symptoms and diagnostic tool are the widespread pain. The pain associated with fibromyalgia can range in intensity from mild to severe. The severe end of the spectrum can be debilitating and disabling. In its milder forms, fibromyalgia is similar to the flu. The muscles and other soft tissues of the body just ache constantly.

Besides widespread pain, fibromyalgia has other symptoms associated with it also. The other main symptom is fatigue. Remember how you felt the last time you had the flu or a severe cold. Fibromyalgics experience that run down, tired feeling the majority of the time. The fatigue is usually caused by the lack of deep sleep. Deep sleep is when the body restores itself. Constant sleep disturbances from widespread pain does not allow for those afflicted with fibromyalgia to enter into deep sleep. Thus, even after sleeping for ten to twelve hours, a fibromyalgic does not feel refreshed.

Another common symptom of fibromyalgia is chronic headaches. Fibromyalgia headaches come in three forms - tension headaches, migraines or combination headaches. Tension headaches are caused by muscle contractions in the neck, shoulders and jaw. The continuous contractions cause the muscles to tense and eventually lead to a headache beginning at the base of the skull and spreading towards the temples. Migraines are caused by the constriction and dilation of the blood vessels in the brain. Similar to the muscle contractions, the blood vessels constrict slowing circulation in the brain and then suddenly dilate causing extreme pain.

Another symptom associated with fibromyalgia is costochondrities. This is the inflammation of the cartilage that attaches the breast plate to the rib cage. Costochondritis is a less common symptom of fibromyalgia.

Constochondritis can last for months and chronic conditions are not unusual for fibromyalgia patients. - 17273

The Importance of Clean Pure Water For Health

By Lee Jacobs

Many of us fail to realize just how important clean drinking water is for the body - did you know that the human organism is primarily water? We are talking about over 70%, with the quality of our health and wellbeing coming down largely to the quality of the waters contained within the body.

The actual break down of the body in terms of constituent's stands at 72% plain water, 20% being hard bone and solid tissue, with the remaining 8% being a combination of chemical compounds. Looking at this from purely a biochemical standpoint, it stands to reason that the quality of fluids within the body can have a profound impact upon our overall state of wellbeing. Every life giving action that takes place within the body happens within this body of water.

Many medically based discoveries have occurred during the last decade that has brought the capacity of the human body's ability to heal itself to our awareness. It seems the body can overcome nearly any pathology if given the chance. The body instinctively knows how to heal itself, and water seems to be the key.

Every cell within the body is governed by complex electrical signals sent via the nervous system stemming from the brain. Essentially, the nervous system is a complex array of miniscule "waterways". For instance, if we become dehydrated, the fluid within our nerves congeals, giving way to a congested mix of synthetic and organic contaminants that distort the vital signals within the body.

Many scholars have now concluded that the distortion of these sensitive communications within the body are the driving mechanism for many degenerative pathologies and neurological diseases such as Chronic Fatigue, anxiety, depression, Attention Deficit Disorder and even Alzheimer's disease.

Medical studies have revealed that a small drop in body fluids, as little as 4%, can cause a loss of energy up to 30%. People that occasionally suffer from decreased energy levels could be experiencing this as a result of dehydration. If the body fluids drop by 15%, death is a possibility.

The statistics have it that more than 65% of people don't consume enough fluids, with many of us experiencing some degree of dehydration. Effectively this means that much of the populace is running at roughly 70% of our capacity, and in many cases less.

Conditions like ulcers, hypertension, arthritis, fatigue, sickness and headaches can be significantly reduced in many cases or entirely prevented by simply drinking an adequate amount of clean water.

It's important to clarify that clean pure water is what we are saying that needs to be consumed, and not fluids such as tea, coffee, colas and the like. This distinction is of utmost importance, as many fluids will actually dehydrate the system - we need to hydrate!

Each time we eat a meal, a certain amount of body fluid will be used to transport the nutrients form the bowel. Equally important, an adequate amount of fluid is required to flush the toxins that build up from any metabolic wastes from the body.

When the body is given the right amount of good clean water, the proper minerals and nutrients, it can overcome nearly anything. - 17273

HCG and Stevia

By Amelia Handley

HCG dieters have a very limited meal plan. One of the very few additives that is acceptable is Stevia. It's an herb from South America and has been used by native peoples as a sweetener centuries. Stevia offers dieters a zero calorie sweetener while reducing cravings for sweets and fatty food.

HCG dieters already have the advantage of the HCG working on their hypothalamus gland (which controls the emotional/eating and drinking portions of the brain). With the addition of Stevia to their diet regime, they have an additional tool helping them stick to their very low calorie diet. The Stevia is available in a wide variety of flavors from a wide range of outlets. Flavors include: Vanilla Creme, Peppermint, Apricot Nectar, Cinnamon, Root Beer, English Toffee, Valencia Orange, Grape, Milk Chocolate, Lemon, Dark Chocolate and Chocolate Raspberry.

The wide range of flavors means that there's one that will work for every dieter. The introduction of Stevia to the herbal tea that serves as a basic element in the HCG food regime can make a huge difference as it combines with the positive qualities available in appropriate herbal tea choices to give dieters an unlimited source of taste and distraction.

Stevia comes from the stevia rebaudiana plant. As a non-sugar sweetener, Stevia offers 30x the sweetening power as sugar. It also offers intensive health bonuses. For instance, it reduces risks of both breast cancer and diabetes.

New research indicates that Stevia may have an even greater use for dieters than previously believed. It is being concluded that a defect may exist between the stomach and the hypothalamus in many who are overweight or obese; it fails to turn off the hunger sensation when the individual is full. Early indications are that Stevia corrects the defect so that the hunger mechanism functions correctly.

The addition of Stevia to the HCG diet made it much more possible to navigate successfully. There are no side effects other than the obviously positive ones detailed above. So not only do dieters gain an extra tool to aid them in their quest to lose weight...they reap even greater benefits. - 17273

Chiropractic Can Help Lower Your Blood Pressure

By Dr Jason Fowler

We all know someone with high blood pressure (HBP). It is possibly a beloved family member or a lifelong friend. This common problem affects one in four American adults.1 An alarming 75% of patients with type 2 diabetes also have HBP.2

High blood pressure is particularly dangerous because, there are no symptoms until severe damage occurs. Heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, atherosclerosis, and eye disease are some of the serious problems that may result from untreated HBP.

Those with normal blood pressure is in the range of 120/80 ("120 over 80"). The first number represents the systolic pressure, the pressure at which your heart pumps blood into your arteries. The second number represents the diastolic pressure, the pressure in your arteries between heart beats (the resting pressure). The systolic pressure can increase, in the short term, in response to stress or physical activity. Systolic pressures over 140 and diastolic pressures over 90 suggest the possibility of HBP. Blood pressure readings should be repeated several times, over a period of several days, before a diagnosis of HBP is considered.

Medical treatment for HBP consists of blood pressure-lowering medications (antihypertensives). This group of drugs is typically effective in reducing pressure, but getting the dosages right may be complicated and there may be unwelcome side effects.

Lifestyle strategies and activities (complementary medicine, lifestyle medicine) offer significant, well-documented benefits in reducing blood pressure levels. Regular, frequent exercise is an important part of all lifestyle programs targeted toward lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke.3,4 Regular exercise makes your heart stronger, and a stronger heart pumps blood more easily and efficiently. Over time, regular exercise may reduce blood pressure levels by an average of 10mm.

Meditation is another key reducer of blood pressure levels.5 Much more than a New Age fad, meditation has consistently demonstrated benefits related to several health issues. And, meditation is easy to do. All you need is a comfortable chair or cushion that allows you to sit in a straight posture without any tension. There is no special breathing to do and you don't have to do any chanting.

To meditate, sit facing a blank wall (if possible) and let your hands relax in your lap. Tilt your head slightly downward, and let your eyes achieve a soft focus at that slightly downward angle. Breathe easily and gently. Breathe in and visualize energy going up your spine in the back. Breathe out and visualize the energy going down your spine in the front. Silently say "one". Continue up to "ten" cycles, and begin again at "one". That is it!

How long? It's completely up to you. Start with five minutes twice a day, and gradually build up to 20 minutes twice a day. You'll probably notice you're feeling much more at ease, more relaxed, with more energy during the day than before you started meditating. The benefits are powerful, and again, there is a profound effect on high blood pressure.

A doctor of chiropractic can help participate in a complementary approach, assisting your body and your nervous system to function at peak performance.

Can The Fountain Of Youth Be Found In Nourishment?

By Karen Lynch

Since the creation of time, people have been searching for the obscure fountain of youth. Astonishingly enough, it has been with us the whole time.

The resolution to the aging problem may be no further away than your neighborhood supermarket, farmers market or health food store. Long-term exploration indicates that as high as 85% or all age-related illnesses can be prevented through appropriate nutrition and pattern of eating. Eating a highly healthful diet can help you to put off the normal deterioration that we have all come to assume from aging.

Many of the top superfoods that can slow the decay of aging are foods that people have been consuming for millennia. Some of these foods have been staple items in parts of the world and one of these foods has such a interesting saga that at one time it was just about completely avoided because it was believed to be poisonous.

Berries top the list of one of the healthiest foods ever. Most berries are rich in a plant-based flavonoid called anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are really the deep purple pigment that gives berries their vivid colors. Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and grapes fit into this group. The small acai berry actually has the maximum antioxidant amount of any particular food ever found in nature and it has long been a staple food for the natives of the Brazilian rainforest providing up to 45% or their food intake.

Tomatoes are abounding in a powerful antioxidant called lycopene. This commanding substance helps to stop heart disease by protecting the blood vessels against oxidative damage. It has also been shown to offer shelter against many diverse types of cancer, including lung and prostate. The tomato is one of the few foods that is actually healthier in a processed state rather than a raw state. The intensity of lycopene is peak when tomatoes are heated such as in spaghetti sauce and since it is fat soluble, the nutritional advantage is increased if you add in a healthy fat, such as olive oil.

Back in the 1500's most Europeans alleged that the tomato was toxic. Most of the flatware of the time was made from pewter. Pewter at that time had a high-lead content and since tomatoes are high-acid, consuming tomatoes with this flatware caused the lead to leech out into the food. This resulted in lead poisoning and death. The poorer people of the time still ate tomatoes because their flatware was made of wood and they did not have the quandary of lead poisoning.

The most colorful foods from nature are the uppermost in anti-aging nutrients. Greens, like spinach, kale, romaine, dandelion greens, and Swiss chard are all extremely nourishing. Orange foods are also superbly nutritious, such as pumpkin, carrots, sweet potatoes and more. Beans and legumes, nuts and seeds, red wine, tea and dark chocolate are all unusually nutritious.

The elusive fountain of youth that everyone was searching for was with us all along. We just need to incorporate more natural, whole foods to our diet and get rid of the junky artificial foods that are so rampant in our society. - 17273

Shoulder Pain-Heart Attack or Rotator Cuff Injury?

By Dr Jason Fowler

The TV classic ER helps teach armchair physicians to become amateur diagnosticians. He's in shock! She's got kidney stones! Rule-out pheochromocytoma!

Sometimes a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.

You've learned somewhere - on the network news, in the Science section of The New York Times, or in a CPR class at your job - that shoulder pain can mean you are having a heart attack. Now, seemingly out of the blue, your shoulder begins to ache and throb. Very concerned, you rush to the local emergency room.

The resident's first question, of course, is "where does it hurt"? You point to your right shoulder and blurt out, "Am I having a heart attack?" The resident smiles, gently reassuring. "A heart attack might give you pain in your left shoulder," she says. "Have you been to the gym lately? This could be a rotator cuff strain."

The resident knows that heart attack symptoms usually involve chest pain (in two-thirds of cases), and may include faintness, shortness of breath, sweating, and a feeling of impending doom.1 Chest pain may spread to the back, jaw, and arms. Left arm pain may radiate to the inside of the forearm and the ring and little fingers. So, shoulder pain by itself probably doesn't suggest a heart attack.

She orders an MRI which shows mild damage to the right rotator cuff. What is going on? What exactly is the rotator cuff?

A rotator cuff is a muscular sheath that surrounds the head of the arm bone (the humerus) and the entire shoulder joint (really, two joints - the acromioclavicular and glenohumeral joints). The four muscles that comprise the rotator cuff help raise the arm to the front and the side and help turn the shoulder inward and outward.

If you are a sports fan, you know that rotator cuff injuries affect baseball pitchers, tennis players, swimmers, and football players. Such injuries are due to repetitive motion, and may also result from falling on the shoulder or arm or lifting heavy weights.

Rotator cuff injuries may also be slowly developing and chronic, related to arthritic and degenerative changes in the rotator cuff tendon and the two shoulder joints. Low-grade pain may develop, and the pain can become aching, throbbing, and chronic. Raising the arm may cause pain, and there may be loss of mobility.2

In the above-40 population, lack of exercise and chronically poor posture may contribute to rotator cuff problems. Sitting at a desk all day, with your neck jutting forward and slumped shoulders, places long-term mechanical stress on the rotator cuff.

Chiropractic treatment may be very useful in helping to rehabilitate chronic rotator cuff injuries. A chiropractic physician is expert in evaluating postural problems and associated spinal conditions. By providing effective treatment, postural corrections, and rehabilitative exercise, chiropractors offer a comprehensive therapeutic program to reduce pain, improve shoulder mobility, and regain function.

How To Get The Best Power Juicer

By Mike Riley

Buying a juicer for the home can be very confusing and mind boggling sometimes, considering the fact that there are so many of them available these days. I first became aware of the the benefits of juicing after purchasing a Lalanne Power Juicer. There are many available and a lot of people end up purchasing an unsuitable one.

It is very important to realize the reason for purchasing a juicer and then go ahead looking for one. As vegetable and fruit juicing machines are quite different from wheatgrass juicers it is important to differentiate the two. I would advise writing a list of the features you want before going out and buying.

There are many different power juicers around in the shops. It can be confusing trying to choose between a centrifugal juicer, a masticating machine, and a twin gear juicer. Centrifugal machines are the most common and more affordable than the other juicers.

Centrifugal juicers work at a very high speed and are very effective at processing fruit and vegetables. They are, however, unsuitable for foods like spinach, wheatgrass and lettuce. They also let some of the fruit juice go to waste and to prevent this, single blade or twin blade juicers must be used. For these varieties, special kinds of juicers are available. The Miracle-mj 500 electric juicer is one of the types widely available in the shops today. They contain no aluminium parts, are easy to assemble, disassemble and operate and are usually cheaper. With Masticating machines, the low speed units help produce high quality juice as a result of reduced oxidation.

It is of importance to check the warranty on offer before purchasing your juicer. A good machines will have a guarantee range of 5- 10 years. It is also often advisable to check the blades prior to purchase as they will frequently require replacing after two to four months of normal use. The output and efficiency of the appliance will often be reflected by the yield figures quoted on the machine. Ideally you want less waste and more juice. Fruit juice can easily be damaged by the oxidation from the heat from a high power motor. I would advise buying a machine with a power output of around 420 watts.

A branded machine such as the Jack Lalanne Power Fruit Juicer is often a better investment than a non branded machine. The reason is that replacement parts are more readily avaialble and often a lot cheaper.

Other than producing fruit and vegetable juicers, many more modern appliances can be used for different functions. They can be used to make many products including ice cream, nut butters and pasta. The more modern power juicer really is a versatile machine. - 17273

Rival has a reputation for all kinds of quality kitchen appliances. One of its best small appliances is its Rival seal a meal vacuum sealer. This is a powerful sealer that is easy to use and is unexpectedly low priced. The Seal-A-Meal can additionally be hung on the wall for your convenience. Here's some reasons why this Rival vacuum sealer is an excellent appliance to have in your kitchen.

The Seal-A-Meal vacuum sealer performs with ease because the Seal-A-Meal utilizes a single roll of plastic film. 8x10 inch and 11x10 inch rolls are available. The rolls are made to be quickly attached onto the Rival seal a meal vacuum sealer with a simple loading process. This allows the user to install the rolls so that they can be used with ease. The appliance may also be cleaned quickly. The food channel may be detached from the front so it can be cleaned, which allows the other parts to continue to work properly.

The bags will be cut through the action of the sealer. The sealer will cut a clean line so that it will be easier for the content to be completely sealed in and guaranteeing that the bag will be tight.

The sealer can even be attached to the wall with ease. This is advantageous in that the appliance will take up a noticeably smaller space in the area.

The Seal-A-Meal vacuum sealer is affordable, too. Many comparable products can be priced at more than $150. The Seal-A-Meal vacuum sealer, on the other hand, is extraordinary. This vacuum sealer is priced at about $100 American/$120 Canadian. Many stores can sometimes sell it for less than a hundred dollars during a sale. Additionally, extra plastic rolls can cost about ten dollars.

Some added accessories are made for the sealer too. An air hose for removing the air from the bags is offered as an accessory. Additional accessories include vessels to contain other parts in, and also to use for storing additional amounts of sealer bags.

The Rival vacuum sealers is a method of food storage that should definitely be looked in to. This sealer is unmatched in keeping foods fresh and is simple to use and maintain. It is also not as pricey as other sealers. It is a great choice for a vacuum sealer. - 17273
