I received three video clips from a friend of mine yesterday, one showcasing Meghan McCain's appearance on the talk show "The View." At first, I could not remember exactly who she was, but then it dawned on me.

I remembered that her father is Senator John McCain, and because her father quite recently ran for the highest office in the United States, she considers herself to be a significant factor in the future direction of her father's party, the Republicans. There is certainly not a consensus on that notion, so her appearance on "The View" served as a forum to present herself as a member of the movement towards "moderate republicanism." I honestly have no idea what she means by that.

On the show, Ms. McCain had quite a verbal battle with Ann Coulter, who is much more conservative than McCain. Ms. McCain basically told Ms. Coulter that she could take her political views and shove 'em. Next, Laura Ingraham, a talk show host, joined in the fray, siding with Anne Coulter and resorting to a personal attack, calling McCain "plus-sized."

I have heard Laura Ingraham previously and I think her insult towards McCain was meant to kill two birds with one stone. It seemed to me that she wanted to show solidarity with Coulter's politics and she wanted to score points by calling out McCain for being fat. Despite all the negativity, I enjoyed Ingraham and Coulter more than I did McCain -- they just looked to be at the top of their game: funny and smart, rather than (I hate to say it) boring.

McCain looked as though she fit right in with Joy Behar, Sherrie Whoever, and Whoopie (and that ain't a good thing). Jay Leno had already called the sneering Behar "fat," among other things, on his show a few weeks back. McCain, with her own sneer and sense of entitlement, told all who could hear that they could kiss her fat a$$ (just like Tyra Banks, who was starting to look like Oprah Jr.).

It's funny, but I don't seem to recall Meghan McCain during the fall campaign, and now she is fighting for the soul of the Republican Party. Oh, and she has a blog. And she seems to have Daddio's temper, too.
