Find Out About 5 Fabulous Floor Exercises to Gain Height

By Rodney Williams

If you are not tall by legacy, don't worry! You can still be 2-3 inches taller simply by relieving your compressed spinal discs and straightening your spine. Stretching is the best method to achieve these purposes.

Five fantastic floor exercises that stretch and strengthen the spinal column are described below. Incorporate these exercises into your routine and discover the quickest way of how to gain height naturally.

Knee to chest hug: Lie on your back. Draw your knees towards your chest. Hug your hands around your knees and pull them in further. Also raise your head and shoulders to touch your chin to the knees. Hold for 20 seconds and repeat once more.

Knees to sides: Lie on your back on the floor and bend your knees with feet flat on the floor. Hold your arms out to the sides with palms pressing against the floor. Let both knees fall over to the floor on one side and at the same time tilt your head to face the other side. After holding that position for 15 seconds, reverse the positions of the knees and head.

Opposite leg and arm stretch: Lie down on your stomach with arms extended in front. Raise your right arm and left leg simultaneously into the air as high as possible. Hold for a few seconds, come down slowly and repeat with the left arm and right leg. Perform up to 15 times.

Opposite leg and arm stretch on knees: This is quite similar to the previous exercise but this time start on your knees rather than your stomach. Face down as you raise one arm and the opposite leg and hold your head in a straight line with the body.

Stretching pushups: To do this pushup, get yourself onto the hands and knees like a dog. Move your body weight onto your hands and perform a pushup. Now move your body backwards such that your weight is transferred to the feet. Continue this cycle 20 times without moving your hands from the original spot. So these were the 5 best solutions to the problem of how to get taller.

Perform one or all of these floor exercises daily at any time to see yourself grow taller. These stretching exercises along with short but intense aerobic sessions like sprinting are all the physical activities you need for growing taller in no time at all. - 17273

Brunswick Labs Report On Magic Juices

By Jewel Erwin

A well known independent lab did studies on the magic antioxidant juices on the market. The results will shock you.

It seems like there are hundreds of companies trying to market the latest magic juice. These juices, many of which are sourced from obscure locations in the Pacific, Asia, or the Amazon often come with alluring tales of miracle cures and healing properties. With few exceptions, these juices claim to be the most powerful antioxidants available. Some claim to have antioxidant super power. So we decided to put these so-called magic juices to the test. We asked Brunswick Labs, a well known independent laboratory, to conduct scientific tests on the magic juices.

Just for fun, we decided to include purple grape juice in the test. The tests were quite revealing! In fact some of the juice companies might feel they are too revealing! Before we get to the results, here are a few of the published statements about the antioxidant and free radical properties of some juices:

MonaVie claims that the acai berry used in their juice is one of the worlds top super foods and is rich in antioxidants. The levels of antioxidants in the acai berry from Brazil versus what is in Mona Vies juice are quite different.

Xango claims that its mangosteen from Southeast Asia is extremely potent in antioxidants. Kyani who uses a berry from Alaska claims they are unmatched in antioxidants. All while FreeLife wants you to drink their GoChi juice and claims it will knock out free radicals.

The FRAP examination showed that grape juice had more antioxidants per serving than all but two of the magic juices.

Here are the results from the ORAC and FRAP tests: The first score is the ORAC score followed by the FRAP. Welchs Grape Juice scored 2734 and 245, while Mona Vie came in at 2220 and 1572. Pharmanexs G3 product reported 1658 and 2648 and Xango scored one of the lowest at 947 and 761. FreeLifes Gochi 888 and 641 with Kyani Sunrise scored a 769 in ORAC and a 1271. Exfuze, who uses extracts from fruits around the world, had one of the lowest scores at 400 and 174.

What does all of this mean? The dollar that you are spending would be better invested with buying grape juice at $.50 for 8 ounces compared to $4.60 of Mona Vie. Both the ORAC and FRAP tests show that the grape juice provides more protection against free radicals then Mana Vies acai juice.

Any business opportunity is only as strong as the product and, more importantly, the value of the product that business sells. Without proven and value-oriented products all the miracle-cure advertising is folklore. So, what is the truth? Are these magic juices really the worlds greatest super-antioxidants?

The best source to get the potent nutrients is eating them fresh from the source. Now obviously if you do not live in these areas then it is virtually impossible to do so. Yoli, a new company with a new technology has solved the problem once and for all. They have blast cap technology which has the nutrients sealed until they are ready for use. The best part is you can place them on top of a bottle of water or juice and blast them in when you are ready to drink.

You now have the most efficacious and affordable nutrient rich drink on the planet. All you have to do is add the water. All at a cost of about one tenth of these exotic juices. - 17273

Basic Principles for Consistent Bodybuilding Results

By Eric W. Bricker

Reaching the goals you've set for gaining weight and building muscle mass starts with the proper workout routine. Fast and long lasting results will only occur with the proper training, but there is another component that will ensure your long term success that is often overlooked.

Commitment and the desire to follow through will determine whether or not you are simply a hobbyist or a true bodybuilder who does what it takes to reach your goals.

Others can show you the proper exercises and routines but it is up to you and only you to get out there and do them consistently. Take action and build momentum until you become unstoppable.

With that said, there are 2 basic principles your weight training program must include if you want to be successful at quickly achieving your goals.

1. Keep it Intense

It is vital for the production of muscle mass that you put as much stress on the muscles as possible during each workout so that they heal and regrow and much as possible during recuperation. A high intensity workout therefore requires that you focus on lifting as much weight as possible with fewer reps, and do only one set per exercise. Doing this 1 to 3 times a week will allow you to increase the weight each week.

2. Periodization

Periodization is an important component in a successful fitness weight training program. Periodization requires that you do some light training for three weeks, follow that up with some medium training for another 3 weeks and then for the last cycle do some heavy training. The goal of periodization is not to achieve gains in every cycle but to change intensity and volume levels to prevent over training.

Supplementation and proper nutrition are of course another needed component. Combined with these two basic principles and a commitment to succeed you will see the results you want in no time. - 17273

What Food Will Provide Sustained Energy Throughout The Day? The Acai Berries? YES!

By Jeremy Liddle

Well what is it about acai berries that delivers sustained energy?

The biggest energy secret in acai berries is the combination of carbohydrates and dietary fibre, however they don't provide sustained energy in every food. In all foods, carbohydrates are converted into sugar in the blood. The rate at which this occurs is measured with Glycemic Index (GI), and if the GI is high then the food is digested and absorbed quickly, delivering a fast rise in blood sugar. Examples of such foods are sweets, sugar, and processed bread.

In order to keep the body healthy blood sugar levels must be kept at a normal level. If they rise it stimulates the pancreas to produce insulin, which is the substance that communicates to the cells to start absorbing sugar, in turn causing blood sugar levels to reduce. Foods that are high in GI cuase extra amounts of insulin which results in too much sugar being absorbed after the sugar rush, depleting blood sugar far below the normal level. This then causes the familiar low that people experience after a sugar rush.

Acai berries have been tested by some companies in Australia and have been found to have a Glycemic Load (GL) of 0.5. GL is a more recent and more accurate way to measure the effect of particular carbs in the blood. It gives a more complete picture than GI as it is also calculated taking into account the actual amount of Carbs that have been consumed. A Gl of 11 or less is considered a low level, and so a food with such a result helps to control blood sugar levels and lowers the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Acai berries have a GL of 0.5, which means it can delver sustained energy.

The dietary fibre in Acai acts like a sponge, mixes with all the digestive juices in our bodies binding to the good eaten, and helps to slow down digestion. Instead of getting a sugar rush after a meal, the sugar is released slowly, providing sustained energy! This also helps control appetite and delays hunger. Which means that it may help prevent weight gain and therefore the risk of obesity.

Unlike most juices, most of Acai's kilo joules come not from sugar but from the healthy unsaturated omega-6 and omega-9 fats. This is one juice that can be consumed guilt free! It can provide a satiated and full feeling due to the high fibre content and at the same time provide sustained energy, unlike other fruit juices! Acai is usually mixed with apple juice, which has a low GI- to provide the same sustained energy as an Acai berry smoothie. - 17273

What Is Included In An Orthopedic Evaluation?

By Dr. Stefan Tarlow

Knee Replacement Surgery and Its Effect on Your Life

Following your knee replacement surgery, you will see a big difference in your life in terms of reduction of pain and increase in mobility. However, before you decide to have knee surgery, it is important to understand that you cannot expect miracles from it. You can realistically expect to return to normal activities of daily living with reduced pain.

While total knee replacement surgery is something of a miracle surgery, with more than a 90 percent success rate in terms of reduction of pain and return to ADL (activities of daily living), it is important to keep its potential in perspective and be realistic about what it can do for you. It will not increase your athletic abilities, for example. If you were not a super-star athlete before, you will not be one following knee replacement surgery.

Actually, if you were active in high-impact, strenuous sports before your knee became diseased or damaged, you would be wise not to return to them. To properly care for your knee replacement, you must avoid jogging and stressful, strenuous sports.

Understand that you can greatly increase the life of your total knee replacement with proper care. Overuse can cause the plastic cushion in your knee replacement to wear out. This will make your knee replacement loose and painful. This is why it is important to engage in moderate exercise and not accelerate the wear and tear of the components of your knee replacement.

Click here for more on orthopedic evaluation .

During your evaluation, your orthopedic surgeon will talk with you and do a few tests:

A medical history covering your general health condition and the symptoms you are experiencing with your diseased/damaged knee will be taken.

Physical Examination: To assess the strength, stability and ROM (range of motion) of your knee as well as the alignment of your leg.

Third, the amount of deformity and damage will be assessed using x-ray.

A variety of tests, including MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), blood tests, and bone scan will be conducted to determine the condition of the soft tissues and bones of your knee as well as your general physical condition.

After your evaluation, you will have a consultation with your orthopedic surgeon to go over the results. He or she will review the options: Total knee replacement or other surgery, injections, physical therapy, or medication. Together, you will determine a course of action that will resolve your pain and mobility issues.

At this point, your orthopedic surgeon will also clarify any risks that may be involved in total knee replacement surgery, rehabilitation, and functioning in day-to-day life with a knee replacement. - 17273

The Acai Dirty Secrets You Need To Know Right Now

By Evan Klupios

Have you seen all of the hype and information about the acai berry yet? This is supposed to be the super foods of super foods.

The Acai berry is harvested in the forests in Brazil and contains high contents of antioxidants. However not all acai products are created equal in fact none of them live up to what they promise.

This little berry has been touted as one of natures super foods. It has claimed to aid in weight loss. One supplement on the market has used a heavy set womans photo and cropped it to make her look thin. Theyve claimed that it was because of their product. You can find her photo on istockphoto and buy it yourself.

Do you have low energy? The acai berry will help you detoxify, which should also help you rest better. It is a natural food that is known to boost energy and maintain it.

You may have seen many acai juice products on the market. Dr. Robert Young, who wrote The PH Miracle as well as many other doctors have proved that there are little or no active ingredients in acai juices. Most of them use sodium benzoate to stabilize their juices as well which is a known toxin.

Companies making any juices from any types of super foods often pasteurize or hot fill their products thus killing vital nutrients. If nutrients sit in water or are not stabilized then they will decay and break down. So the challenge becomes how do you deliver vital nutrients to the consumer?

Inventor Mikel Anderson, who has invented many every day products that you use, has invented blast cap technology. These blast caps can be placed on top of a bottle, waiting to be blasted into water or juice. The nutrients in the blast cap are super concentrated and very much alive compared to a juice product.

Why pay $50 for a bottle of 28 ounce juice? You can pay one tenth of that for way more active ingredients by purchasing a blast cap. It is all in the delivery system if the nutrients are actually there or not.

In the fall of 2009 the blast caps will be sold in the US. Many publications are being done right now on the efficacy of the products and ingredients and how they compare to any juice on the market. - 17273

Bodybuilding Tips, How Lack of Sleep Will Make You Fail

By Ricardo d Argence

It's easy to go to the gym a few times a week and then assume you will just sit back and watch your muscles grow. But there are many other factors involved besides just physically working out and targeting your muscles through weight training.

One of the most overlooked elements involved is that you need to rest properly, not just between workouts, but actually get a good night's rest at the end of the day. Changing around your sleep schedule so you get a solid and consistent night of rest, every night, can lead to big changes in the results you see from your bodybuilding program.

For many reasons sleep is one of the most important factors for successful bodybuilding. Though fatigued, your body's muscles recover during sleep. This lapse of time is important when some parts of your body aren't functioning, it's when your body recovers from damages.

You must rest or your body won't be able to heal and add new muscle. You will be adversely impacting your gains by not providing enough time for your muscles to heal, recover, and continue to grow in the proper manner.

Another reason that sleep is so important for bodybuilding is that a lack of sleep can cause you to have a lack of focus and a lack of physical energy. A lack of mental focus can destroy your results while you're in the gym. You can have the best intentions in the world, but if you get in the gym and you can't visualize the exercises you are going to do and you can't focus on moving from one to the next, you aren't going to get a great workout.

Although you might not have the energy or be motivated enough to have a great weightlifting session. There's only so much your body can handle over the course of a day with a tiny amount of sleep. With everything else going on in your life, its working out that often takes a backseat.

Another reason why it is so important in bodybuilding is that trough sleeping your body restores the energy and you maintain a good rhythm with your hormones. Proper metabolism and muscle gain require sleep. At the same time, sleep also inhibits other hormones that can lead to fat gain and other unseemly consequences.

No matter what you want to maintain a consistent sleep schedule, that means that sleeping for 2 hours on Friday night and then sleeping for 12 hours on Saturday night doesn't amount to the same benefits as sleeping 7 hours both nights in a row. And that's what you should shoot for, at least 7 hours a night. Remember, no sleep leads to no gains for bodybuilding, and you'll be ruining your chances at success before you even get started! - 17273

Learn How to Build Pecs

By Frank Hommes

Beginners at weight lifting might feel like they are missing something when they are trying to learn how to build their pecs. They do all of the same exercises they see other people doing and still have trouble getting their pecs built up. This is because not everything is about the exercise itself.

1. Eating the proper types of food is just as important as doing the necessary exercises. This is because without certain nutrients, muscles can't be properly built. Protein is what muscle is made up of and therefore to build the muscle, you need to be eating a lot of protein. Carbohydrates are also a big help because they will provide your body more energy for the workout.

Overall health is an important part of how to build pecs, so having a well balanced diet will be very helpful to you. Along with consuming a lot of protein, you should be eating plenty of vegetables and fruits. As long as your body is healthy, it will be able to focus on building new muscle.

2. The second key is stretching. If you're trying to build your pecs, you should do stretches which get the upper chest prepared to do some hard work. You can do something as simple as copying the motion of a push-up while standing, to stretch out your pectoral muscles.

People should avoid overworking their pecs for the same reason they should stretch. Too much activity on the pectoral muscles can strain the muscles causing them damage as opposed to making them stronger. It could also lead to overly pronounced pecs which some people call "man boobs."

3. A person needs to do the right types of exercises if they want to build their pecs. Exercises such as push-ups really work the pectoral muscles and can be done without a gym. For people with access to a weight lifting bench they can do bench presses as well. - 17273

The Best Body Building Supplements, Creatine

By Ricardo d Argence

Creatine is produced naturally in the body and is not really a drug. It's a combination of three amino acids: actually glycine, arginine and methionine. Creatine is available in some foods, and is commonly found in things such as fish or meat.

It helps the body do so-called "explosive" high intensity and repetitive exercise. This means that you can get a better workout when you take creatine, and you'll feel better after your workout too, since your muscles can cover much more quickly from fatigue. It helps reduce the accumulation of lactic acid after your workout, which will help you avoid muscle soreness after your workout.

Taking supplements of creatine will give you larger amounts of it, even though you can get creative from your diet. You'll recuperate for less time between workout sessions, as taken within reason, this can help you exercise longer with less fatigue and soreness, and with faster recovery times as it is. Training and doing physical activities is very good for bodybuilders and athletes in order to excel in their achievements and build muscles.

Adenosine triphosphate or ATP is a substance that is stored within your muscles for whenever you might need it. This provides an instant fix, accounting for the "explosive" benefit given to the muscles, leaving the body ready for a more intense workout.

Just remember that while taking creatine your body is going to retain more water in your muscles, resulting in the need for you to increase your intake of water to off set the rest of your organs. In short, be sure you drink enough when you're taking creatine.

Creatine may aid you in working out longer, harder, and more often. And more workouts will help you build muscle more quickly. Another benefit is the reduction of soreness after working out, resulting in you being able to work out sooner, and feeling better much faster.

However, it has some cons, too. You will experience weight gain because your body will retain water in its muscles. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but just be prepared for the higher number on the scale. You can experience dehydration and related side effects like nausea, vomiting or even seizures, in addition. Also, it is not advised to take Creatine if you have kidney problems due to the added stress that Creatine can cause to the kidneys.

In order to function correctly and have effective workouts, you must eat right, no matter the supplements you take.

You can take all the creatine in the world, for example, but if you sit there and eat junk food instead of concentrating on lean proteins, complex carbohydrates, and plenty of fruits and vegetables, you're not going to be helping your workout. Your muscles have to have something to build themselves on, and junk food is not the answer. So make your diet healthy by including plenty of lean proteins like lean meats and fish, complex carbohydrates, and fruits and vegetables. Limit or eliminate trans fats, simple sugars and carbohydrates, and junk food in general.

That said, though, with these guidelines in place, creatine can certainly help you improve your workouts and therefore your muscle mass as long as it's used properly. - 17273

Massage Chairs Providing Shiatsu Massage

By Evan Woodward

It is now common to find shiatsu massage techniques in massage chairs. This ancient Japanese massage therapy was promoted to assist in the production of stress and to relieve many elements of the body. Although this is a famous Japanese technique, it development originally began back and ancient China. It is a form of acupuncture that uses pressure instead of needles. The subtle techniques of shiatsu massage have been duplicated by many different manufacturers of massage chairs.

Shiatsu is a derivative of acupressure massage therapy. Acupressure uses increasing pressure to activate trigger points located throughout the body. Acupressure is a form of acupuncture but uses pressure instead of using needles. Both techniques target trigger points in the body for activation.

Although shiatsu is similar in many respects to acupressure, there are some differences. Perhaps the most notable difference is and the placement of where the massage is performed. In a typical acupressure massage, it is performed over the acupoint only. Shiatsu is not limited to just the acupoint, but is performed over a larger area.

Shiatsu continues to evolve with modern times. The modern version of shiatsu uses movements which include vibration, grasping, shaking and other types of movements to loosen and invigorate tight muscle areas.

Shiatsu, much like acupressure, uses increasing pressure and small circular movements to activate the trigger points in the body. Additionally, the area around the trigger point will be stretched and pulled to loosen this area as well. This provides relief in addition to assisting with the flow of energy in the body.

Massage chair manufacturers have studied the precise movements of the shiatsu massage technique. A variety of different technologies have been developed to precisely replicate this effective massage treatment.

Massage chairs use advanced roller designs which can move in three dimensions. This helps to replicate the increasing pressure which is a key characteristic of shiatsu massage. Manipulation of the soft tissue areas is done with a variety of movements to stretch and elongate the muscle tissue.

Vibration motors are also used to help to thoroughly penetrate the muscle tissue this helps to invigorate the muscle and to penetrate completely through it. This helps to relieve tightness and tension.

Many massage chairs also incorporate air massage systems. These systems are driven by an air compressor which pumps compressed air to air bags. The air bags are specially designed to perform compression massage two different parts of the body.

Massage chairs contained computers which are programmed with sophisticated software programs. These programs initiate and run the various systems and a massage chair. The coordination of these different technologies provides for an effective and invigorating shiatsu massage.

Shiatsu massage is now practice throughout the world. There are many different massage therapy schools which teach different versions of shiatsu massage. Massage chair manufacturers also very in the different techniques and interpretation of shiatsu massage.

There is no definitive agreement on the exact techniques which constitute shiatsu massage. There are generalized techniques which are known to be part of the body of knowledge which is known as shiatsu massage.

You also find that different massage chair manufacturers offer slightly different interpretations of shiatsu as well. This is to be expected as shiatsu is a medical art and not a medical science. What is important is that the shiatsu massage treatment works for you. The best way to find out is to try different massage chairs and find the one that most effectively relieves your ailments. - 17273
