The Importance Of Trace Minerals In Your Body.

By Neil Butterfield

Trace minerals are essential to our health and are found in the body in trace amounts just like the name indicates. These minerals are essential for your overall health and are required in minute quantities each day. And even though you need so little they do so much. In fact, you couldnt live a healthy life without these trace minerals.

If you're taking a compound or chelated (pill form) trace mineral supplement you may be getting less than 20% of what it says on the bottle. That's because your body is unable to process pills any more than that. However, liquid trace mineral supplements are water-soluble which means you will get almost 100% of what it says on the bottle. That's because water-soluble supplements are so easily absorbed.

Below are some of the trace minerals and what they do.

Selenium - grains, fish and some nuts are excellent sources of this mineral. Selenium makes your immune system stronger, controls free radical cell damage and prevents life-threatening blood clots.

Chromium - if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, hypoglycemia, or looking to prevent these diseases then chromium is the must-have mineral. Sources of chromium are orange juice, whole grains, broccoli and grape juice.

Zinc " This trace mineral has become much more awareness especially since weve heard so much about it in the prevention of colds. Studies have seen zinc reduce the duration of a cold by half and many will tell you zinc lozenges at the first sign of a sore throat will stop it dead in its tracks. Zinc helps the body fight infections which is why its so good in wound healing, infectious diarrhea, and infections in the blood. Alcoholics are usually about 50% deficient, and mothers breast feeding need extra zinc. Zinc can be found in oysters, nuts, whole grains, dairy products, and fortified breakfast cereals.

Copper - you wouldn't know it if you looked at a penny, but copper is very important for healthy bone growth, carrying oxygen and nervous system functions, as well as the production of healthy skin color and collagen (good for flawless skin). Sources of Copper are whole grains, cherries, oysters, leafy green vegetables, dark chocolate, nuts, fruits, and poultry.

Boron " This mineral regulates levels of calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium, all of which play a vital role in the development of strong bones. It also improves the function of the brain and ones memory. It also regulates male and female hormones, maintains cell wall strength, and it prevents arthritis. Boron can be found in tomatoes, prunes, pears, apples, and raisins.

Sulfur " This mineral ensures the oxygen that is necessary for brain function is provided, as well as controlling bacterial infections. Sulfur is necessary for healthy skin, nails, and hair. It is also needed for stable energy levels and it is the building block to amino acids that are very important. Sulfur can be found in fish, eggs, onions, garlic, and cabbage.

Trace minerals are essential to your body allowing it to remain healthy, vibrant, energized, and more youthful. Lack of the appropriate trace minerals can lead to illness. Take liquid trace minerals and relax knowing that you have done the right thing to enhance overall health. - 17273
