Yohimbe Supplements

By Adrian Vasquez

There are a lot of products in the market that address the problem of not being able to have a fulfilling love life. Chief of this is yohimbe. It has long been used as an aphrodisiac by African tribes. This (or actually, the substance yohimbine) is extracted from the bark of a tree. This tree is usually readily found in western Africa. The locals also use this to cure fevers and colds.

I am sure you kept a weight loss diet at least once in your life. A common problem you face when you want to lose weight, is that once you start to bring your calories intake lower, your body adjusts and decreases its metabolic rate, which hinders your ability to get rid of fat. It seems that yohimbe can help in this respect, as it increases the metabolic rate of the body. Moreover, as an added benefit, it is specifically helpful in fighting the fat from difficult areas, such as hips for example.

Yohimbe is also believed to work on the brain, especially on the area that is connected to arousal. Thus, it is easier for a man to get an erection, because both physiological and psychological factors are addresses. However, when the problem stems from organic nerve problems, then this is not the choice for you. Consult your doctor about another treatment.

Yohimbe is not just for men either. Women who have a hard time with their failing libido can find help in this, which works to increase desire and arousal. As a result, you are able to respond to your partner with enthusiasm and expectation. Aside from its function as an aphrodisiac, it is also useful in treating depression. It halts the working of amono-amine oxidase which is believed to cause a negative shift in the moods.

Yohimbe should be used with caution, though. The lines between an effective dose, a toxic dose and an ineffective dose are very slim. A little too much and it can have toxic effects on your body. A bit too little and it may not be as effective. Thus, it is hard to find the right dosage, especially as this may vary from one individual to another.

And, when taking yohimbe, there are certain foods and medication that you should avoid, as these can negatively react with the herb and cause discomfort and harm to you as well. These include foods that are rich in tyramine, like red wine, cheese products and chicken liver. It is best to ask your doctor first before taking this supplement. - 17273
