3 Raw Vegan Diet Myths

By Alistair Bedingford

There are a few commonly held misconceptions about a raw diet that have kept many from experiencing the benefits of such a diet. In this article I hope to address and shed some light on these myths.

Myth #1 - Raw food means always eating cold meals

There is a major misconception that eating raw food means a life of cold meals. Since healthy enzymes in raw food are not destroyed until it is heated to about 115F you can enjoy fantastic warm raw meals.

There are different methods of heating raw food. One of the more popular is called a raw food dehydrator. This device not only dehydrates food but also has the capability to heat food such that it stays lower than the 115F level.

Myth #2 - If I'm eating raw I can never eat out or share a meal with my non-raw friends

Some people believe that a raw vegan diet relegates you to the equivalent of being a social hermit. This is simply not true. To get the health benefits of a raw food diet you only need to eat raw at least 75% of the time. You can enjoy a cooked meal with friends then invite them to your place to enjoy delicious and healthy raw food.

Another great thing is that as more people realize the benefits of raw food, more raw restaurants pop up. Take a look around your city; you might be surprised with what you find.

Myth #3 - Eating raw costs too much

People think of raw food as boutique food. However, eating raw doesn't have to break the bank. Raw vegan food is made of vegetables and veggies are generally much cheaper than meat.

Also, raw food is more filling than cooked food because it contains more fiber, which means that you get fuller off of less food and therefore, have to buy less food.

There you go, 3 myths debunked. Go enjoy some hot raw food with your friends and save money. - 17273
