Increase Vertical Workouts

By James R Puta

Just think about how much better of an athlete you would be if you could jump 6 inches higher. Well, we know that you can't really change your height but you can increase your vertical jump with proper training. It is time that you get serious about your game and work on your vertical.

Why don't bodybuilders jump super high? Well there are 2 factors that you need and they have all the strength and more that they would ever need to jump high. The strength is good to have because it prevent injury from having weak tendons and muscles. You need strong muscle to take the impact of a lot of jumping.

How would a bodybuilder go about jumping higher? Well they have the strength they would just need to do plyometrics to produce speed in the legs. Power equals speed plus strength and plyos will make your legs faster by causing the muscles to react at the same time instead of individually.

So this explains why you see skinny guys without much muscle mass jumping really high. Their muscles are firing at the same time which produces much more power.

Plyometric workouts will involve many things that you may not be use to. Such as plyo boxes, for example. These boxes are made for you to jump on and in between each one you should only touch the ground for a split second as if it were a trampoline.

The exception to the rule of only staying on the ground for the shortest amount of time possible is the jump squat. This one combines strength training and jump training so you stay on the ground a little longer.
