Healthy Fats Are Part of a Healthy Lifestyle

By Kathryn Barry

Healthy Fats are needed by your body for many of its functions and your body thrives on a supply of saturated, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated fats.

One of the biggest problems facing Americans in this modern day is a deficiency of Omega 3 fatty acids. This severe deficiency has been created by the consumption of way too many Omega-6 fatty acids.

Too Much Omega-6 Causes Health Problems such as asthma, heart disease, cancer, weight gain, learning disorders, blood clots, liver damage, hyperactivity, sterility, and violent behavior. Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids must be kept preferably to a ratio of 1 to 1, instead of the "Now Norm" of 20 to 1 or even 50 to 1. Now this is a serious issue and can be resolved by increasing your Omega-3's and decreasing your Omega-6's.

Another Serious Issue is Saturated Fats

People fear these Healthy Fats even though your body needs them in order to function at its best.

Without saturated fats your lungs would not be able to perform its job properly

Saturated fats are vital for Omega 3's in your body.

Your kidneys function better with a saturated fat called myristic acid.

Your body depends on various hormones that take care of important and vital processes within your body. These hormones depend on saturated fats to complete thousands of jobs.

Saturated fats can affect the amount of inflammation you experience.

Your cells do well when its membranes are comprised of 50% saturated fats. This enables a higher level of communication to go on in your body.

Calcium requires a certain percentage of saturated fat in order to be incorporated into your bones.

Saturated fats are important to your brain, since your brain is made primarily from fat.

Coconuts are a great source of saturated fats. Their saturated fat content is at about 92% and coconuts have a special type of fatty acid which is medium chained in length.

Despite having a very high saturated fat content, coconuts do not have any cholesterol. Coconut's fatty acids also contribute to the production of energy which is a great help for people who have weight problems.

Coconut's Healthiest Fatty Acid is Lauric Acid

Lauric acid is the most important and abundant fatty acid found in coconuts. This fatty acid is similar to the one found in mother's milk and they have similar health benefits.

Lauric acid is converted into Monolaurin which possesses antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. New born babies depend on the Monolaurin for their immune system development and their capacity to withstand infections.

Your thyroid which is connected to your metabolism is greatly enhanced by the presence of lauric acid. Lauric acid also helps your pancreas secrete insulin.

Coconuts help a variety of Health Problems such as Heart Disease, HIV, Diabetes, Kidney Problems, Osteoporosis, Dandruff, Stress Relief, Pathogens, Wrinkles, Metabolism, and Cancer.

My Favorite is Raw Coconut Cream! You can make your own if you have a Green Star Juicer and some good coconuts.
