Boost Your Health By Drinking Green Tea

Green tea was first used as a health tonic by the chinese over 4,000 years ago. There are many green tea benefits that include in aiding high cholesterol levels, arthritis, cardiovascular disease, infection, and cancer. Since the early days of drinking green tea for better health, to today, lost of research has been conducted to verify folklore and prove that in fact, drinking green tea is great for your health.

The important active ingredient in green leaf teas are the catechin polyphenols, the most important being epigallocatechin gallate. This is a powerful antioxidant that can stop cancer cells from growing; it lowers LDL cholesterol levels and can stop blood clots from forming. In particular this antioxidant kills cancer cells and leaves the healthy cells alone.

Just as drinking red wine in moderate quantities is good for the heart due to the antioxidants found in red wine, the same goes for drinking green tea for the same reason. Further more, the green tea antioxidants are actually better for you than the red win antioxidants, so if you want a better heart in terms of health, drink green tea.

There has been some new information that shows that green teas can help with weight loss. Green leaf tea appears to increase the metabolism so that you burn more calories which help you lose weight. Green tea has also been found to be an ingredient in many skin care products and also can stop food poisoning and kill the bacteria that cause tooth decay.

There is only one detractor to drinking tea and that is it contains caffeine. Those that are sensitive to caffeine can suffer from insomnia. Otherwise there are no negative side effects associated with green teas. No one can agree on how much green leaf tea you should drink but even one serving a day is better than none. - 17273
