Bodybuilding Tips, Lack of Sleep Is Not Good For Muscle Gain

It's easy to go to the gym a few times a week and then assume you will just sit back and watch your muscles grow. But there are many other factors involved besides just physically working out and targeting your muscles through weight training.

However, when it comes to working out and trying to gain muscle mass, getting good nights rest is very important. Getting a good night's sleep, can help with many different aspects of your health and how your muscles grow is part of that. The worst thing for you to do is change your sleep schedule so you are sleeping at different times during the day.

Why is sleep so important for bodybuilding? There are actually several reasons why sleep is so important to be successful at bodybuilding.

If you are new to working out and just getting started then you will need to know that when you lift weights there is a considerable amount of damage done to your body. Your body gets microscopic tears in the muscles from lifting the weight, and needs sleep to heal itself.

Without enough of this quality rest, simply put, your body won't have enough time or availability to repair old muscle and build new muscle. You will be severely inhibiting your gains by not allowing your muscles to heal, mend and grow properly.

Another reason that sleep is so important for bodybuilding is that a lack of sleep can cause you to have a lack of focus and a lack of physical energy. A lack of mental focus can destroy your results while you're in the gym.

You can have the best intentions in the world, but if you get in the gym and you can't visualize the exercises you are going to do and you can't focus on moving from one to the next, you aren't going to get a great workout.

Lack of sleep can cause mood swings, where normally at that time of the day you are exciting and ready for a hard workout, now you're tired and unmotivated. Getting little to no sleep will make it so you get behind on other things you do, because you are moving and working slower. This means that some days you may not get to the gym, and that's how a decline starts. Once you take one day off, then you start making excuses for taking more days off.

Keeping the chemical balances in your body everyday is essential for you to perform your routine. Unusual sleep patterns or lack of sleep can make it so your body's natural rhythm is off.

With all of that said, something that is very important to bodybuilding is your body's ability to burn fat. In order to do this you must have a good metabolism. When you sleep your body releases hormones into your bloodstream that help fuel your metabolism and keep it high.

The primary thing you have to think about when it comes to sleep is making sure that you have consistency. Only sleeping for 4 hours one night, then trying to make up for it the next night with 12, is not the same thing as sleeping both nights at 8 hours.

That's what you should shoot for, at least 7 hours a night. Remember, no sleep leads to no gains for bodybuilding, and you'll be ruining your chances at success before you even get started! - 17273
