Natural Nutrients and Hair Loss

By Andrew W John

When you lose your hair, most often it happens because of overabundance of testosterone in your organism - this beneficial male hormone has an ugly tendency to become dihydrotestosterone once it reaches hair follicles. Once created, DHT starts to limit the blood flow in the scalp and tighten skin around the follicles, effectively destroying hair. The good thing is that proper nutrition can stop this process before it really begins, or even turn back all the negative changes.

This was the bad news. The good news is that you are not doomed. The scientists know much more about mechanisms of hair loss and they have devised a set of nutritional supplements which can stop or even reverse the process.

Weapons Against DHT

Probably the most powerful nutritional supplement that may prevent hair loss is zinc. While it can't be taken in large amounts (too much zinc prevent the absorption of iron and may cause anemia), its role in keeping your hair safe is hard to overrate. Its main role is relaxing skin and muscles on your scalp, directly countering the influence of DHT.

Biotin is another nutrient which is necessary to stop the progress of balding and revert the damages done by DHT. Biotin, a member of a large B complex group of vitamins, supports proper nourishing of hair follicles and increase hair repair rate. It can be found in abundance in such foods as kidney, liver, milk or cooked eggs. Unlike zinc, it can't be overdosed. However, remember that most foods which contains biotin are incredibly rich in fat, so if you decide to eat them with no restraints, you may cure balding, but at the price of fifty extra pounds!

Proteins are a necessary part of our nutrition. Among other good things, they play an important role in keeping our hair thick and strong. No wonder that they are a common add-on to many shampoos - nourishing one's hair with proteins can increase their volume by even 50%! While they cannot cause any hair regrowth, they are essential in keeping those strands which are left in good condition.

Another important compound that strengthens our hair is Vitamin A, also known as carotene or retinol. While you have probably heard about it is a perfect skin moisture regulator, retinol is also able to prevent a balding process from occurring or make it stop if it has already started. Sebum, if secreted in the right amount, can prevent the damages caused by DHT. Vitamin A can be found in many types of food, most notably in vegetables and fish oils. Overdosing is possible and may cause some serious health problems, but if only you keep the intake within reason, this is not very likely to happen.

The next important nutritional element is a well-known anti-aging amino-acid, Vitamin E. It promotes the blood circulation, and makes sure that all hair will be well-nourished. As a side effect, Vitamin E is also responsible for reducing the amount of gray hair - another effect of DHT. Vegetable oils are probably the best source of Vitamin E, as long as they have been cold-processed, so devising the right diet shouldn't be a problem. On the downside, you can easily overdo it - in large quantities Vitamin E is responsible for increased blood pressure and abusing it may lead to hypertension.

The major problem is, of course, keeping the dosage. As many of those nutrients may prove to be dangerous is taken excessively, devising a healthy diet which would include every nutrient in the right amount is very difficult - especially that there are many other things you should take into consideration while preparing it. That's why it is usually much better to opt for a complete hair nutritional supplement, such as ProFollica system supplement. ProFollica contains everything which is necessary to keep your scalp and hair nourished, as well as several other ingredients that keep DHT at bay. If you're not sure about it, or if you want to learn more about it. - 17273
