Why Should We Consider Supplementation
Many of us supplement, however why do we supplement? What benefits do we receive from supplementing? And I suppose most importantly why should we even consider supplementing. Well many of us take vitamins and minerals or other similar items to give our health and immune system a general boost, with a lot of us taking such supplements because we believe what we read regarding the health effects/benefits.
The reason why we supplement and the reason why the supplement market is so huge is because our diet consists of a lot of rubbish, and rubbish is defined of food that is heavily processed and simple sugar like foods which tend to lose a lot of their natural edge and vitamins etc.
Fruit and Vegetables have lots of vitamins and antioxidant effects which are beneficial to us and this is the main reason why doctors and nurses and other health professionals promote eating such foods, however the cold hard truth is that a lot of us still do not eating enough of these foods.
Out of all the vitamins and minerals available to us, iron is very important and is important for the reason that it gives us a great sense of well being. For meat eaters this is great news because meat tends to have abundant amounts of iron available, this therefore means that the more meat we eat, the more iron we get and the better we should feel in general.
Unfortunately though this means bad news for vegetarians as they wont be getting nearly as much iron as meat eaters, therefore vegetarians are a class of people who may wish to consider iron supplementation.
It also seems that we are getting more and more lazy other time and this contributes to a poor diet. Have you ever seen truck drivers with huge stomachs and computer programmers that are also huge? The main reason we have this stereotype is purely because a lot of these people in these professions d do not get time to eat well and tend to turn towards fatty food or heavily processed food which in its nature tends to be a lot more convenient.
So in a world with such temptations and food with a lack of nutrients etc, what should you do? The answer is quite simple and involves being in tune with your body. Have you ever had a sugar craving before or a meat craving before? Your body is craving those foods for certain calorie types and certain vitamins. So listen carefully to your body and don't become confused with cravings and what you 'think' you should have
