A Wine Tasting Introduction

By Ted Robertson

Most people who have never been to a wine tasting event don't know what to expect. If it is your first wine tasting holiday then you might want to know what to do and what to expect whenever you visit the Wine Country.

Make sure that you eat a good breakfast before you fo wine tasting. Carbohydrates and fats should be included in your morning meal. Including these will preserve your sugar levels.

Women should not wear any kind of lip rouge or lip gloss while wine tasting. The taste of the wine can be effected by the oils in the lipstick, in fact even the aroma can make a big difference to the taste.

The ladies or gents should not wear strong perfume or cologne as this will have the same effect as lip rouge.

Even if there are wine makers or vineries in your chosen wine region that let individuals taste their wine for free, most wineries charge sampling fees that run from 5 bucks to 25 dollars per person. Some wineries even waive the fee with a wine purchase which can include a free souvenir glass.

You might want to put on sensible shoes when you attempt visiting wineries. You need to remember that wine makers are more or less farms and you should look forward to to do some walking around the grounds.

Just like your shoes don't go dressed up when visiting the wine country, remember these are farms and can get rather dirty. You may be going for a meal in high end eating places after the wine tasting day, then you may want to bring a change of clothes.

If you really want to savor every drop of vino when you visit Wine Country, then you might want to plan ahead and hire a tour guide. By doing so, you will be able to have an expert work out your route and activities that will be able to help you save a lot of valuable time and cash. Drinking and driving don't go together so make a point that if you are going to drink a lot of wine you engage one of these expert tour guides. - 17273
