The Final Word On Coffee and Caffeine

By Borgon Trocepticlon

If you make a study on the topic as to what awakens and arouses people in the morning...you will no doubt get high votes for coffee and tea, which are both caffeinated drinks.

Coffee beans, kola nuts and tea leaves are the components from which caffeine is obtained. Chocolate factories and pharmaceutical companies use caffeine in their products. People start craving for caffeine as it is addictive.

Today, the world is facing caffeine addiction to a staggering percentage. Though if questioned and probed people will never admit their reliance on caffeine. Caffeine's prevalence is common as it speeds up the heart rate of the body, increases the vigilance and also raises the blood sugar level.

Caffeine has innumerable harmful consequences. It decreases the body water level and causes the body to frequently urinate as it is a diuretic. Caffeine intake diminishes the deep sleep period. A person gets obsessed with caffeine and tends to show negative behavior such as annoyance, headaches, short concentration span and joint aches.

Pregnant women should keep away from caffeine as it can have a negative impact on the fetus. The unhealthy reaction to the caffeine can cause miscarriage by disrupting the placenta and eventually the fetus, although this is extremely rare. If taken during pregnancy, it increases the risk of low birth weight and severe labor pain.

People start experiencing confusion and panic attacks if their daily intake of coffee is three to four cups. They might even suffer sleeplessness as caffeine accelerates the heart and gives vigor to the body. This can prove to be a problem for night shift workers as they are unable to sleep off their troubles even in the day. Insomnia can cause jittery nerves, anxiety and dark circles under the eyes.

The increased heart rate and blood pressure and increased sugar level may cause diabetes and coronary problems. People with a sensitive stomach should also take precautions and decrease their caffeine intake as caffeine intensifies the bowel movements and this can lead to stomach ache. Caffeine is also associated with bowel disorders and ulcers.

Surprisingly, caffeine is also related to food cravings and ultimately weight gain. Caffeine's disadvantages definitely rein over its advantages. Consuming coffee may make a person more energized but that effect only lasts for four to six hours. After that the body system craves more of the instant energy which leads to increased addiction. A person should start withdrawing from caffeine independence for quality and a freer life. It is no easy feat but nothing is impossible. Only you hold the key to your life. - 17273
