Lose Weight By Eating These Thirteen Foods
This morning, my wife and I went out to what I would call an inn, to have some breakfast, a decision that was entirely hers. As it turns out...it was a pretty good decision. I had something I've never eaten before...pumpkin pancakes, and I must say, I'd come back there and eat them again, should the queen be willing.
Way back when, as a medical student, I remember that we were not taught a great deal about nutrition. Food was just not thought of in medical terms, and consequently, we did not apply good judgment regarding our own eating habits.
Over the past few years I have learned more about good diet and nutrition than I did during the whole time I was practicing medicine full-time. After breakfast this morning, I got to thinking about a book I read a few years ago, which was about the concept of "superfoods."
Pumpkin is considered a superfood. No...it's just not for carving at Halloween. And is it a vegetable, or a fruit? Most people think it's a vegetable, but it's actually a fruit, a member of the gourd family.
The pumpkin is such a good choice for a number of reasons. It's low in calories but high in fiber; it's not expensive and can be found year-round -- canned when it's not pumpkin patch time. Plus, it's packed with nutrients that can go a long way towards fighting disease -- nutrients such as magnesium, potassium, pantothenic acid, and vitamins E and C.
If I had to choose one nutrient that puts pumpkins in the lead as a superfood, I would have to say that it is the synergy of a combination of carotenoids. Carotenoids are a huge subject, but the most important thing for you to know is that they go a long way towards protecting your heart.
I want to give you a list of some other superfoods which, when added to a healthy diet, will go a long way towards avoiding that extra belly fat.
Beans, Blueberries, Broccoli, Oats, Oranges, Salmon, Spinach, Green (or Black) Tea, Tomatoes, Turkey, Walnuts, Yogurt.
So there are the 13 superfoods, but we are missing one important element: the daily addition of ultra-pure, pharmaceutical grade fish oil. Fish oil has superfood powers of its own, namely the mighty omega-3 fatty acids that are in my own formula of fish oil -- highly purified and pharmaceutical-grade, of course.
And if you add in a little cinnamon and garlic, you have even a couple more powerful fat fighters.
The key to weight loss is synergy. You have to eat healthy food, exercise consistently, get enough sleep, and take a good fish oil product. Do all of the above and your spare tire will become a thing of the past. - 17273
